Wicomico Goes Purple extends resources at Shorebirds game

SALISBURY, Md. – Saturday is National Overdose Awareness Day and Wicomico Goes Purple honored it at a Delmarva Shorebirds game.

Health departments from the tri-county area came together at Perdue Stadium in Salisbury supporting those in recovery and recognizing those who have been lost to overdoses.

Wicomico Goes purple used the baseball game as a chance to spread awareness and extend resources to those individuals and families who need them.

“Just to extend our hand to individuals and let them know that we are here, we’re available, and we can connect people with resources and families as well that might be struggling with someone, that might be suffering from an addiction,” said Michelle Hardy, Director of Behavioral Health Authority at the Wicomico County Health Department.

The event leads into September, which is National Recovery Month.

You can support Wicomico Goes Purple at their ‘Shatter the Stigma’ walk on Sept 28th– at Wor-Wic Community college.
