Wicomico Co. Health Dept. to host memorial service for lost loved ones

SALISBURY, Md.- The Wicomico County Health Department will honor lost loved ones through a special memorial service.

Thursday night, the health department will host its ‘We Remember You, Overdose Awareness’ service,  where families can gather, listen to songs dedicated to their loved ones, and share memories.

Program coordinator, Jessica Taylor, hopes this memorial will help shed a light on each individual, and an epidemic that has affected thousands.

“People can see that the opioid epidemic and the drug toxicity, it affects everybody; all races, color, creed, and it allows people to say, ‘Wow, they’re from my community and we want to remember them. They’re not going to be forgotten.”

If you have a loved you want remembered, you can submit their photo by scanning the flyer on the health department’s Facebook page. The event will be held from 6-8PM at WinterPlace Park.
