Shorebirds cough up late lead

SALISBURY, Md. – The Shorebirds fell to the Carolina Mudcats in their first game back home at Perdue Stadium, 2-1, Tuesday night.

Colin Tuft used his wheels to will the Shorebirds to their first run. Tuft was walked, then stole two bases before coming home on a fielder’s choice in the fourth inning.

The Mudcats responded in the seventh when Eric Bitoni hit a home run over the right center field fence, evening the score at one.

The Mudcats then got another in the eight inning. Yhoswar Garica bunted to get on first, then advanced to second on an error. After stealing third, he was eventually brought in on a Reece Walling double.

The Shorebirds lost the game 2-1, and will play the Mudcats Wednesday night at 7:05 pm.
