DAGSBORO, Del. – A Selbyville man is behind bars on charges stemming from an incident Sunday evening.

Just before 5:30 p.m., troopers were called to the 30000 block of Peppers Creek Road in Dagsboro for a reported disorderly person. Troopers met with a 44-year-old man, who reported that a subject, later identified as 47-year-old Matthew Mitchell, slashed the tires on his truck and threatened him with a knife. It was learned through the investigation that the victim was parked in the Dogwood Acres Community when Mitchell approached and allegedly began slashing the truck’s tires. The confrontation stemmed from an earlier incident where the victim’s truck reportedly tailgated Mitchell on Vines Creek Road. A physical altercation broke out after the victim got out of his vehicle, at which point Mitchell allegedly grabbed him and threatened him with a knife.

The victim was not injured.

Mitchell was charged with possession of a deadly weapon during the commission of a felony, aggravated menacing, offensive touching, criminal mischief, and disorderly conduct. He was subsequently held at SCI on a $16,300 secured bond.
