Second cohort to graduate from UMES education program
PRINCESS ANNE, Md. – The University of Maryland Eastern Shore is giving a special send off.
The second cohort of its High School Teacher University program will be graduating, Friday afternoon.
The UMES initiative helps prepare students ages 15-18 for a career in education.
Participants got to stay on campus, learn from professors, and even took a trip to the National Museum of African American Culture in Washington DC.
UMES Professor, Dr. Richard Warren, said all of the students will walk away knowing more about the field and what it takes to be a successful educator.
“This program can literally alter the course of not only their life, preparing them for college, but also as they begin to think about their nephews, their nieces, their cousins, and how they can position themselves to help them along their educational journeys,” Dr. Warren said.
The graduation will be held from 12- 2PM in the UMES Multipurpose room.
