Queen Anne’s County woman faces charges in January Bay Bridge crash

QUEEN ANNE’S CO., Md. – A Chester woman has been arrested in connection with a January multi-vehicle crash on the Chesapeake Bay Bridge. Maryland Transportation Authority Police say 48-year-old Gwendolyn Persina was driving under the influence of alcohol when she caused the crash. Persina was reportedly driving at high speeds when she struck another vehicle and caused the chain-reaction crash.

MDTA Police Officers and deputies with the Queen Anne’s County Office of the Sheriff took her into custody Wednesday. She is being charged with driving a vehicle under the influence of alcohol, driving with a suspended license, causing life threatening injuries by driving a vehicle under the influence of alcohol and other charges.
