Princess Anne police department hosting its national night out

PRINCESS ANNE, Md.- Princess Anne Police Department will be holding their national night out event next week.

Their event is on Tuesday, August 6th from 5 pm to 7 pm at the Garland Hayward Youth Center, and it is also free and open to the public.

Lieutenant Rob Smith of PAPD tells us why this event is so significant to the community.

Lieutenant Smith says “It brings the community together with the police department under positive circumstances and what we do every year we engage with that we believe that’s very important and it also a way to bring the community together so that they know who their neighbors are and to know who their neighbors are so that they are familiar with their surroundings and it hopefully encourages a relationship where they can come together to help fight against crime.”

Lieutenant Smith also says that there will be tons of activities at the event for everyone to enjoy.

Lieutenant told WMDT “We offer a bounce house, we do face painting, we will provide food for the participants, we have some demos everything from a k9 demo to a car seat demo, and we’ll do some raffles and giveaways we’re going to have some bikes this year that have been donated. We will provide ID kits for kids so parents can come up and ask for their kids to be fingerprinted and photographed and we’ll give them an ID card just in case anything happens.”
