Poor Girls Open billfish competition starts August 15th – 17th.

OCEAN CITY, Md – With the conclusion of the White Marlin Open this past week, comes the Poor Girls Open billfish tournament coming this week, into next weekend.

The Ladies-only tournament will feature food, live music, and competition. The annual tourney is a hit in Ocean City with proceeds benefitting breast cancer research.

The Bahia Marina will play host to the event, From August 15th – August 17th, with lady captains, crews, and anglers taking the stage in hopes of reeling in the big one.

PGO Chair, Shawn Harmon, said this competition brings in money, which goes towards a significant cause

“To get treatments, it’s mostly going to research but we turn all the money over to the cancer society and they do what they feel is most important with it.”

Since its inception, The Poor Girls Open has donated over 1.8 million dollars to the American Cancer Society.
