Massive blue marlin steals the show on day two
OCEAN CITY, Md. – A near-record blue marlin stole the show at day two of the 51st edition of the White Marlin Open.
The Waste Knot pulling into the harbor with the first qualifying white marlin on board. When the dust had settled the marlin aboard the Waste Knot from Raleigh, North Carolina, weighed in at 77 and a half pounds. As of Wednesday morning it is worth over $4.1 million.
An almost 800-pound blue marlin was brought in Tuesday, but it paled in comparison to the one on the Stone Cutter out of St. Augustine, Florida, that came in at 897 and a half pounds, officially. It is the fifth largest blue marlin in the 51-year history of the White Marlin Open, and is worth almost $550,000.
No Limit out of Indian River, Delaware, brought in a 183-pound tuna, good for second place, valued at $131,000. CNTL ALT DEL from Ocean City, Maryland, with a $245,000 tuna, coming in at third in weight for the category.
