Marydel man arrested on more than 50 charges stemming from child sex abuse material investigation

MARYDEL, Md. – A Marydel man has been arrested for possessing child sex abuse material.

The Caroline County Sheriff’s Office says they began the investigation in October 2023 regarding the possession of child sex abuse material through an internet platform in Marydel. Following the 10-month-long investigation, 19-year-old John Sullivan Jr. was identified as the suspect.

A search warrant was obtained and executed by the Sheriff’s Office, with the assistance of the Talbot County Sheriff’s Office, Easton Police Department, and Homeland Security Investigations.

Sullivan Jr. was subsequently taken into custody on Monday and charged with 53 counts of possession of child sexual abuse material and distribution of child sexual abuse material, among other charges. He is currently being held at the Caroline County Detention Center on a $30,000 secured bond.
