Local guitarist Gavin Hades making a name for himself
DELMARVA – Gavin Hades, a local guitarist who’s been playing since he was 11 years old, is now 17 and is making a name for himself even beyond Delmarva.
While we met Gavin a little over three years ago, his career thus far is nothing less than exceptional, including an article written about him and his band across the region.
“Me and my band, the Gavin Evick band, just came out with our first song and it’s been played all over Sirius XM and Hair Nation, and radios all over the country. We just got back from playing in Vegas and LA at a place called Counts Vamps in Vegas, in the world famous Whiskey Go-Go. So it was like two dreams come true, kind of in one back to back thing,” said Gavin.
Gavin tells us his upbringing had a large emphasis on music, between learning guitar from his dad or playing with his cousin, who he now has the chance to tour with. And since he tours at such a young age, he says it’s changed his outlook on life.
“My friends and I will be doing something and I’m like no, I have to leave I have shows I have to do and everything and there’s a lot of times I miss out on a lot of things, but I don’t see it as missing out. I see it as I’m doing what I love every single day.”
At 17, Gavin has seen crowds screaming his and his band’s name, all there to enjoy the music he’s helped to create – a feeling that affirms why he does it in the first place.
Now as Gavin prepares for his next big break, he tells us he never takes his experience for granted, and hopes to be a beacon of hope to other young performers across Delmarva.
“Don’t give up, that’s about the only thing I got, just keep going, you’re never going to make it if you don’t try.”
