Good Morning Delmarva discusses the Jeepers Back the Blue Jamboree

WMDT – The annual Jeepers Back the Blue Jamboree is returning to Dover on September 7th and 8th.

It’s an opportunity to show your appreciation for all that our law enforcement does to service and protect our community.

This morning, the founder, Jeff Lehnert, who also happens to be a deputy sheriff, stopped by to tell us more about the event.

He says he started the event when Corporal Ballard from Delaware State Police was killed in the line of duty.

The first year, 75 jeeps showed up, but by the second year they had 709 jeeps come out!

Jeep owners from over 9 different states will be coming to Delmarva this year to driving around the Monster Mile Nascar track.

Lehnert says it not just all about the jeeps. There will also be canine demos, food trucks, live music, vendors, and the highly anticipated world’s largest rubber duck.

There will also be a kid’s zone with a moon bounce and face painting, so this event is family friendly.

He tells us this event has helped over 45 families so far in need.
