Early voting kicks-off in Delaware Primary
DELAWARE – Early voting has begun in Delaware for the State Primary, and early voters will have the chance to cast their ballots through this Saturday from 11 am to 7 pm.
To vote you’ll need proof of identity such as a photo ID, utility bill, paycheck or a bank statement that displays your address. Kent County has 4 polling locations in Dover, Frederica, and Harrington. Sussex County has eight locations in Ellendale, Frankford, Georgetown, Laurel, Lewes, Millsboro, and Millville.
Executive Director of the ACLU Mike Brickner says this is a great opportunity to get things done early before election day. “In Kent and Sussex counties, we have these vote centers and so you can show up to any of those voting centers you don’t have to necessarily go to the one that’s in your community or is the closest one to you. So, if you live in Laurel but you happen to be over in Seaford doing some grocery shopping or whatever, you can stop at the department of elections Wearhouse in Seaford, even if you don’t live in Seaford.”
Brickner says on election day you need to go to your designated polling location, and that you can still vote by mail if need be. “For people that want to mail in their ballot, you have to be an absent tee voter. So, that means you have to have an excuse where either you’re going to be out of the state or out of the county or you have a disability, so you have to have some type of excuse to vote by mail.”
Primary elections will begin on September 10th and, early voting will continue at those sites on September 3rd from 11:00 am to 7:00 pm and then September 4th -8th from 7:00 am to 7:00 pm. If you have any questions, please feel free to visit the elections website.
