DSP arrest second suspect for copper wire thefts from irrigation systems
GREENWOOD, Del. – Police have arrested a second suspect in connection to a copper wire theft investigation in Kent and Sussex Counties.
Between April 12th and August 16th, detectives investigated multiple thefts of copper wire from irrigation systems in the Bridgeville, Greenwood, and Houston areas. In each incident, police say unknown suspects trespassed onto private properties, cut, and stole copper wire from pivot irrigation systems, causing significant damage to the equipment.
Through further investigation, Dorothy Wooleyhand and Michael Plummer were identified as the suspects. Wooleyhand was arrested earlier this month, but Plummer remained wanted until Friday, when he was arrested and charged.
Plummer was released on a $21,610 unsecured bond after being charged with four counts of theft over $1500 where the victim is over 62, four counts of theft over $1500, eight counts of criminal mischief over $5000, four counts of second degree conspiracy, theft under $1500, two counts of criminal mischief under $1000, and ten counts of third degree criminal trespass.
