UPDATE: Dover man killed in early morning hit-and-run

8/19 UPDATE: Delaware State Police have identified the victim in this crash as 62-year-old Michael Jose of Dover.

DOVER, Del. – Delaware State Police are asking for witnesses to a fatal hit-and-run crash that happened early Friday morning.

At around 1:40 a.m., police say an unknown vehicle was driving northbound on South Dupont Highway, just south of POW/MIA Parkway. At the same time, a pedestrian was near or on the northbound shoulder of South Dupont Highway, south of POW/MIA Parkway. According to police, the investigation determined that the vehicle hit the pedestrian and fled the scene in an unknown direction.

The victim, a 62-year-old Dover man, was pronounced dead at the scene. His identity is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.
