Crews battle two-alarm blaze involving vacant farmhouse in Dorchester Co.
MADISON, Md. – Firefighters battled a two-alarm blaze in Dorchester County Thursday afternoon.
Just before 2 p.m., Rescue Fire Company was called to respond to a shop/shed fire. Crews were deploying hoses when one of the exposed buildings, a large 2.5-story farmhouse with a basement, also caught on fire. The house was vacant.
A tanker task force was also requested due to the rural location of the fire. We’re told tankers from as far as Greenwood, Delaware were alerted. Multiple brush trucks were also called in for a field/brush fire that resulted from the building fire.
Crews were at the scene for approximately four hours before deciding to go from defensive operations to a controlled burn.
