Battles with mental health for the unhoused children population
WICOMICO COUNTY, Md – With 10% of Wicomico County students living in unstable living conditions, homelessness among children is back at the forefront, there is a greater chance for children to suffer from mental health problems due to the inadequacy.
this includes depression, schizophrenia, and even alienation. These problems if adopted early, can turn into lifelong sicknesses and disorders.
Mind Map Wellness psychiatrist Ian Bolland said that homelessness has an extreme impact on students.
“Some children with homelessness may feel different from their peers, which leads to social isolation, they might have difficulty and trouble maintaining friendships.”
Bolland hopes for children dealing with this problem, to practice emotional resilience and lean on their support systems if possible.
Bolland says children need to practice emotional resilience and lean on those support systems if at all possible.
