UPDATE: Domestic incident in Seaford leads to one arrest

SEAFORD, Del. – A suspect is behind bars after police say a person was seriously injured in a domestic incident Tuesday evening.

At around 5:45 p.m., officers were called to a reported physical domestic incident in the 300 block of Planters Drive. Officers arrived at the scene and heard sounds of a struggle from outside the residence. The victim was able to exit when officers tried to force entry into the home, at which point the victim told police that the alleged suspect was still inside and it appeared that he was trying to barricade the doors.

With help from Delaware State Police, Laurel Police, Blades Police, and DNREC, a perimeter was set and police searched the residence, locating and arresting the alleged suspect, identified as 38-year-old Jeremy Powell.

The victim was airlifted to an area hospital and is currently listed in stable condition.

Powell was charged with first degree attempted murder and possession of a deadly weapon during the commission of a felony. He was held on a $1.1 million cash bail.

It was also learned that Powell had an active warrant out of Delaware State Police for breach of release, criminal mischief, criminal contempt of a domestic violence protective order, endanger the welfare of a child, and second degree reckless endangerment. He was also presented on these charges and given a $4,000 secured bail.
