2024 Football Preview: Indian River High School

DAGSBORO, Del. – The Indian River High School Football Team has been trending upward for the past two seasons. In 2022 they were .500 and one and done in the playoffs. In 2023 they finished 7-3 and took down Brandywine in the first round of the 1A playoffs before falling in the semi-finals.

Now Indian River Quarterback Dylan Grise and his team are looking to accomplish even more. They want a spot in the 1A title game.

As a sophomore starter in 2023, Grise learned the ropes of the position, leading a young squad deep in the playoffs. Last season’s star receiver Rashad Hopkins has graduated but Darnell Stokes is ready to fill his role on the outside.

So with new weapons and more experience on his side, Grise is ready to assert himself as one of the best quarterbacks in the conference.

I think just taking slow for these young guys and being able to control the offense and make sure everyone knows what they’re doing. when everyone knows what they’re doing, you have a good season. we have a lot of returners and a lot of young guys in the skill positions. we have a new line, last year we had a line full of seniors so we’re still working on that. But I think the line will come around and we’ll have a good year,” Grise says.
