2024 Football Preview: Delmar Wildcats

DELMAR, Del. – The Delmar Wildcats hope focusing on their execution will lead them to the road of success and back into the playoffs.

The Wildcats have to replace some key players who played both sides of the football last year for Delmar namely Brandon Turner, Dwayne Carney, Bryce Johnson, and Kweli Jones. Now they’ll lean on Khalid Schoolfield, Nathan VanZandt, Garret Cooper, Scott Messick, Isaiah Holbrook, and Braiden Alexander to lead.

Coach Hern says it’s always the plan to win your division but he wants to focus on being successful on what they have been working on that specific week in practice and see if it translates to the games.

So you want to get better game by game so these first five are almost like preparation for your district play. That’s how we’ve always approached it, because most of your non-conference games around here are early. For those games, we’re just trying to get ourselves better, day by day but week by week,” he says.
