DELMARVA – Flights, banks, and media outlets across the world were impacted by a widespread technology outage Friday morning.
Cybersecurity firm CrowdStrike has said the issue believed to be behind the outage was not a security incident or cyberattack.
As of 6:30 a.m., TidalHealth Penisula Regional and TidalHealth Nanticoke hospitals were functional with limited interruptions. All clinical operations and life-saving equipment is working, and command centers are open and staffed at both hospitals. All appointments are canceled until 10 a.m., at which point officials will reassess operations for the day. All ambulatory outpatient labs in the local communities will be closed Friday, however, the outpatient labs at both hospitals will remain open.
As of 9 a.m., Worcester County Health Department officials say their offices have been affected by the outage. Those in need of Vital Records services should call 410-632-1100, as they are currently unavailable digitally.
Delaware Governor John Carney says that public safety services are currently operating normally in the First State, but that other state services may experience delays while service is restored.
