UMES STEM educator Brad Hartle shows Good Morning Delmarva how to make a mechanical hand with cardboard

WMDT – UMES STEM Educator Brad Hartle returned to Good Morning Delmarva to show Jake and Jordie another kid-friendly science experiment.

Today, he’s showed us how to do multiple quick and simple experiments at home such as a mechanical hand with cardboard or a tongue depressor catapult.

The first experiment Brad illustrates is the bubble wand.

Using a plastic bottle, food coloring, sock or hand wipe, you can create a fun activity you can do outside.

Next, using rubber bands, popsicle sticks, and a bottle cap you can make your own catapult.

He warns it’s only effective when you use very light items like cotton balls.

Brad says that it’s perfect for when you’re stuck inside on a rainy day.

The last experiment involves corn starch and water. Brad says the idea comes from a Dr. Seuss novel!
