Two-vehicle crash leaves one dead in Delmar

DELMAR, Del. – Delaware State Police are investigating a fatal two-vehicle accident that left one man dead and others injured Friday night.

Around 9:30 p.m., a 1996 Subaru Outback was traveling south on Providence Church Road. The Subaru failed to stop at the stop sign at the intersection of Providence Church Road and Delmar Road, entering the westbound lane of Delmar Road.

The Subaru was then struck by a 2017 Nissan Rogue that was traveling west on Delmar Road.

The driver of the Subaru, a 48-year-old man from Salisbury, was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the collision and was pronounced dead at the scene.

The identity of the deceased is being withheld pending notification of family and relatives.

The driver of the Nissan was a 40-year-old woman from Laurel, along with 3 child passengers. The driver and passengers in the Nissan suffered minor injuries.

The intersection was closed for roughly 3 hours while investigators examined the scene.

Delaware State Police Troop 7 Collision Reconstruction Unit is continuing to investigate the incident.
