Tuckahoe Steam and Gas Assoc. 51st annual show
EASTON, Md – The Tuckahoe Campground played host for the 51st annual Steam and Gas Show, and people made it out for the event, it was promoted rain or shine.
Tractor collector Noah McGrath said the event is all about the families and generations that passed the torch, “A lot of these engines and everything you see here, is owned by families and it’s been passed down generation by generation and they take a lot of pride in the stuff they have, and the heritage of what they have going on here.” said McGrath.
The Steam and Gas Association treasurer Tom Booze doesn’t consider the show an event, he believes it’s a family tradition. “It’s a reunion every year of a lot of people, some people come here to remember, some people come here to learn,” said Booze.
Family and tradition have been things that have been instilled since the event first started, and Mcgrath said it all began when a couple of people wanted to start something bigger than themselves.
“Tradition is a big thing here, it was a small group of people that started this, and it was a couple of guys with a couple of engines, and they started this, and they come out here and said we’re going to start something, and we’ve kept the tradition going over the years,” said McGrath.
The event will still take place on Saturday and Sunday at the Tuckahoe Campgrounds at 11472 Ocean Gateway Easton, MD 21601.
