Surfriders Foundations holds a beach cleanup

DELMARVA – The fifth of July is the dirtiest beach day of the year, with the Independence Day celebrations.

Today at the seashore state local park, volunteers got together to help clean the area beaches. This includes plastic bottle caps, plastic utensils, beer cans, and cigarette buds.

Surfrider Foundation spokesperson Jjana Johnston says a little help from every beachgoer can alleviate the stresses post-holiday “Take your trash with you, whatever you bring in, take out because when the high tide comes it gets washed out to see and adds to our plastic problems,” said Johnston.

The Delaware chapter of Surfrider Foundation is always looking for volunteers, you can register on their website at Delaware.surfrider.org
