Shepherd’s Office asking for donations for the homeless

Summer Fundraiser

DELAWARE – Families are in need of fund, and in Georgetown, a local organization is facilitating the help for those who are facing the heat on the streets.

The Shepherd’s Office provides hospitality for the homeless and the hungry. They give away free food boxes and homemade meals. They also provide free clothing and personal hygiene items for everyone who needs it at no cost to the public.

Pastor Jim Martin is the director of the Shepherd’s Office and says they need as much help as they can, so a fundraiser seems like a great way to get the entire community involved in doing something for someone less fortunate. Weather conditions always affect those on the street and during the summer months, it can become unbearable, and donations will help sustain their efforts.  “Also, we’re helping them with bus passes and bikes, and whatever they might need to get back on track… We’re giving out about 300 meals every day here and it just gets very expensive, especially with inflation and everything. So, we need to bear each other’s burdens and try our best to help our most vulnerable people out here.”

Jim says the goal is $5,000 and they only have about $2,000 more to go. He also says if you’re uncomfortable with sending money, bringing water, snacks, or hygiene items will do just fine.
