Salisbury Police investigating after body of juvenile found in Wicomico River

SALISBURY, Md. – A death investigation is underway after police reportedly found a body in the Wicomico River Saturday afternoon.

According to police, a local fisherman contacted police at around 1:30 p.m. to report a deceased subject in the Wicomico River. Officers responded to the area of North Prong of the Rive near the 300 block of West Isabella Street and found the body of a female.

Detectives say they are still working to determine how the female came to be in the water. We’re told the victim is a juvenile, and at this time, there are no outward signs of trauma that would indicate the cause of death. The victim was taken to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner for an autopsy.

No foul play is suspected.
