Peach Festival happening in Berlin

MARYLAND – Well Georgia isn’t the only state known for its peaches! In Maryland, the Berlin Peach Festival is coming up on August 3rd, and residents couldn’t be more excited.

The Peach Festival has been in operation for the past 16 years and has a juicy legacy attached to it! Melissa Reid is the President of the Taylor House Museum, and says the festival is the city’s sweet spot. It dates back to the late 1800’s with the Harrison Family who started a peach orchard in the State.

She says this is a fundraising event that gets the whole community involved, and proceeds go towards telling the history of Berlin. “There are Peach Pies for sale on the lawn, the local elementary is going to have a bake sale, so people definitely come for anything peach-related. And what’s been great the last few years a lot of the restaurants in town will have like a peach item on their menu, so it definitely gets spread throughout the whole town, beyond the lawn of the museum.”

The festival will take place this Saturday August 3 10:00 a.m. -4:00 p.m., and the museum says if you come, you’ll leave feeling just peachy.
