Ocean City’s Art League hires new fellow for diversity, equity, and inclusion

MARYLAND – The Art League of Ocean City just hired their New Fellow for Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion, Collin Byrd.

Byrd teaches graphic illustration and animation at The University of Maryland Eastern Shore and was formerly a professor of animation at the Savannah School of Art and Design, He specializes in comics, 3D printing, and digital creation. He is honored to be in a position to inspire others and the biggest reason he says diversity in art is important, is perspective.”

“It’s important for people to identify with characters that they see on the screen, and realize you can have those same opportunities that they did… It’s not just perspective for the people who want to identify as the characters, but also perspective for those people who don’t identify as that character get to see there’s other perspectives they can understand.”

He says he is excited for the upcoming year and hopes to inspire all youth of all backgrounds with the Art League of Ocean City.
