Mother and son arrested for alleged stabbing of child in Ellendale

ELLENDALE, Del. – Two people have been arrested on attempted murder charges stemming from the reported stabbing of a child.

Shortly before 11 a.m. Thursday, troopers were called to Bayhealth – Sussex Campus for a possible stabbing. Troopers arrived and learned that a 12-year-old had been brought to the hospital by a family member after being stabbed at a home in the 18000 block of Sharon’s Road in Ellendale.

Further investigation revealed that the suspect, 40-year-old Darris McGlotten, allegedly stabbed the victim in the chest while the victim was sleeping. It was also learned that Darris’ mother, 54-year-old Jamesneta McGlotten, knew that the victim had been seriously injured but did not seek police or medical help.

Darris McGlotten was charged with first degree attempted murder and possession of a deadly weapon during the commission of a felony, and was held at SCI on a $420,000 cash bond.

Jamesneta McGlotten was charged with endangering the welfare of a child and was later released on her own recognizance.
