Millsboro woman charged with child abuse at daycare center

MILLSBORO, Del. – A Millsboro woman has been charged with child abuse following an investigation that began last month.

Delaware State Police began investigating on June 3rd after being notified of the physical abuse of a child by a staff member at Bright Beginnings Daycare in Millsboro. It was learned that on May 31st, a staff member, identified as 47-year-old Veronica Ayres, hit a 2-year-old child in the face. We’re told Ayres was terminated on the day of the incident.

Earlier this week, Ayres turned herself in to DSP Troop 4 and was charged with third degree child abuse. She was later released on her own recognizance.
