Man arrested after traffic stop leads to discovery of credit card skimming equipment in Salisbury

1280 Nantu

SALISBURY, Md. – Salisbury Police arrested a New York man last weekend following a traffic stop.

Just after 9 p.m. Sunday, an officer stopped a vehicle in the area of Eastern Shore Drive and East Carroll Street, making contact with the driver, identified as Ion Nantu of Glendale, New York. Police say a probable cause search of the vehicle led to the discovery of several items consistent with the installation and maintenance of credit/debit card skimmers, used to fraudulently obtain credit and bank information from community members.

Nantu was subsequently arrested and held at the Wicomico County Detention Center.

Police encourage community members to be aware of their surroundings when using credit/debit card machines and should look out for tampered security seals, misalignments, and loose cardholders.
