Local doula organization offers wraparound services to community members
DOVER, Del. – In Dover, Community members came together to give back.
The Do Care Doula Foundation hosts a walk-in food pantry every second and fourth Wednesday at their site.
Those who went to Wednesday’s pantry were free to shop for whatever food they needed and also had the chance to pick up baby necessities, like diapers and wipes.
Executive assistant, Gabi LaSalle, said when their brick-and-mortar location opened up back in January, they knew they wanted to offer these types of wraparound services to the community.
“A lot of what we were doing as doulas, that our clients were needing, was very much outside of our capacity. One of the things that we wanted to do was to create sort of a wraparound services affect, so that when people come to get a doula, they realize there’s other things that they may need,” LaSalle said.
The pantry is located at 125A West Loockerman St.
