Kent Library wins 2024 library of the year
Dover, DE – The Kent County Library in Dover Delaware won the 2024 Library of the Year award, with over 7 nominations, the library which is one of the smallest libraries at 10,200 square feet, in the entire state received the honor.
Kent Library is known for the events it organizes outside of the 497 South Red Haven Lane address, including the New Zealand Pen Pal Program, that serves over 600 participants.
They also organize a Young Authors Workshop, which brings young writers and illustrators together for a chance at collaboration. Every summer, it organizes the Arts in the Park, a popular weekly summer music series.
Library director Hilary Welliver said, that while they may not have the biggest library compared to their counterparts, they have a like-minded vision
“I think it gives incentives to these smaller organizations, you don’t have to be enormous to be Fabolous, you don’t have to be big to be awesome, you just have to be committed to the vision to do the very best that you can.”
