Good Morning Delmarva discusses the Epworth UMC Golf Tournament

WMDT – Epworth UMC in Rehoboth Beach has three food programs that volunteers run to provide meals to those in the community.

They will be hosting a golf tournament in the fall to benefit their soup kitchen and food pantry.

This morning, David Streit, co-chair for the golf tournament, stopped by Good Morning Delmarva to tell us more about the event and how your participation can help others.

He says the motto for Epworth UMC is “explore faith and embrace community” which they strive to do through its food ministry.

They’ve saved over 14 tons of food over the years!

Streit tells us this all started a few years ago but was put on hold for a few years due to the pandemic.

He also tells us this isn’t their only fundraiser.

Throughout the year, they do a variety of fundraisers that involve things like pickleball, cornhole, or gardening.

The tournament will be held October 5th starting at 7:30 a.m.
