Diakonia prepares to celebrate 15-year anniversary of thrift shop

WEST OCEAN CITY, Md. – Diakonia will be holding an event to celebrate the 15-year anniversary of its thrift store in West Ocean City.

As part of their ‘Christmas in July’ celebration, the event  will feature a ribbon-cutting ceremony as well door prizes, refreshments, giveaways and a raffle for a basket valued at $700.
For the past 15 years, the non-profit has used proceeds from its thrift store operation to help fund their mission in assisting the homeless.

“It’s very important that our thrift store is successful. And over 15 years, it’s been amazing the work that’s been done, especially by volunteers. Our thrift store does not run if not for the volunteers that we have,” said Ken Argot, Executive Director at Diakonia.

The ribbon-cutting and other festivities are scheduled to begin at 10am on Friday morning.
