Delmar man arrested for harassment in stolen vehicle

1280 Newberry

REHOBOTH BEACH, Del. – A Delmar man was arrested on multiple charges stemming from a suspicious person investigation Sunday afternoon.

At around 12:30 p.m., a trooper was called to the Walmart located at 18922 Rehoboth Mall Boulevard for a reported suspicious person. The trooper learned that a man had been following the victim around the storm, which caused her to feel alarmed. After the victim left the store, the man reportedly got into a white GMC Sierra and continued to follow her while she was in the parking lot.

The trooper who responded to the scene found the suspect, later identified as 38-year-old Jordan Newberry, at the Grocery Outlet at the Rehoboth Mall. Newberry was taken into custody, and the trooper found his white GMC Sierra with Maryland registration in the parking lot, discovering that it was reported stolen to the Salisbury Police Department the previous day.

Newberry was charged and held at SCI on a $6,000 cash bond.
