Delaware State Police taking school donations

Troopers got our Backpack

DELAWARE – The Boys in Blue are backing the community, with backpacks that is!  It’s time for their annual school drive which provides school supplies for surrounding students.

Delaware State Police Federal Credit Union Locations and every Troop through the state is currently collecting Items. They say they are collecting any and everything from paper to pencils and they welcome the community to join in their efforts. Master Corporal Lewis Briggs III says this is a very successful program they’ve been doing for over a decade, and they love to put smiles on the kids’ faces.

Briggs says they work with the local school districts and some organizations even collect items on their behalf. “We take those items, those supplies, distribute them to schools, back-to-school events because through the month of August as you know there are a lot of back-to-school events… Pencils, paper, backpacks and notebooks are always the main thing people are in need of. Mainly the backpacks!”

Officers say they are taking donations up into Aug 23rd, and the bags will be distributed so if you wish to donate, they want to take it!
