After The Whistle: Parkside’s RaNiyah Corbin
SALISBURY, Md. – Meet Parkside’s RaNiya Corbin, the 2024 MPSSAA 2A State Track Champion!
The Parkside Junior star sprinter just won her 1st state title grabbing 1st place in the 200-meter dash with a personal high time of 25:28. This newest accomplishment adds to her already large resume including being a bayside champion and a regional champion.
She was also a medalist at the New Balance and Adidas National Invitations.
“I couldn’t believe it, but I was very excited just to receive that title all in all,” Corbin said.
She said every time she runs, she blocks everything out and focuses on finishing the race.
‘When sprinting, I just feel like just trying to push myself as hard as I can and just getting over that finish line. And then when I do cross the finish line, it’s just a huge relief that I’m not pushing anymore and just knowing that I finished and I did as best as I could,” she said.
All of the work that she’s put in has gotten her far but even though she’s a state champion, she’s said not finished growing as an athlete. She’s only a junior, and now her focus is on improving even more so she can go back to back.
“Senior year, I just want to get a lot faster times. I want to continue to place first and just do what I can do best,” she said.
