Unity Square shut down for construction
Splash Pad
MARYLAND – The City of Salisbury is reporting trouble at Unity Square. As a result, the splash pad has been temporarily shut down.
Community members went to social media, saying that children were responsible for the damage.
Although the city didn’t confirm or deny, City Officials say the water feature was damaged, issuing a statement they shared with WMDT. “The splash pad at Unity Square is not malfunctioning but rather was damaged by a visitor to the park over the weekend. The City is working with a contractor, which will have the fountain operational again in a timely manner, however, we ask that people please treat the area with respect, so that all can enjoy it.
If you or your family are enjoying the splash pad please note that like any mechanical equipment, it cannot run constantly and must occasionally cool down. If you place your foot on the sensor and the fountain does not come on, it could be in a cool-down period which can last up to 10 minutes. If you have any concerns while in Unity Square or anywhere downtown, please call the Ambassador phone at 1-833-389-6729.”
There is no word on long construction will take or when the Splash Pad will be up and running again.
