Traffic stop in Milford leads to discovery of drugs
MILFORD, Del. – A traffic stop Friday night led to the arrest of a Dover man on multiple drug charges.
Milford Police stopped a vehicle in the area of Airport Road and N. DuPont Boulevard just before 9 p.m. for a registration violation, making contact with the driver and passenger, identified as 44-year-old Jorge Ortiz and 35-year-old Edwin Rodriguez. It was learned that Rodriguez had active court capiases for his arrest, and a consent search of the vehicle led to the discovery of 637 dosages of suspected heroin (approximately 4.459 grams) and drug paraphernalia.
Ortiz was arrested and charged with possession of a controlled substance in a tier 2 quantity and manufacture/deliver/possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance in a tier 2 quantity. He was held on a $15,000 secured bail.
Rodriguez was presented on his active capiases and released with new court dates, in addition to a criminal summons for possession of drug paraphernalia.
