Police chase leads to firearm charges for Felton man
MILFORD, Del. – A Felton man is behind bars after he allegedly led police on a chase through Milford Monday afternoon.
At around 2:30 p.m., a Milford Police officer stopped a vehicle in the area of NW Front Street and North Street. The officer made contact with the driver, and as the officer returned to his vehicle, the suspect reportedly fled and led the officer on a short chase. The driver, identified as 24-year-old Gene Smith, was taken into custody on Linstone Lane, and a loaded shotgun was found in the trunk of Smith’s vehicle.
Smith was charged with possession of a firearm by a person prohibited, disregarding a police officer signal, and several moving violations. He was held on a $12,300 cash only bail.
