Nylon Capitol Shopping Center demolition
DELAWARE – Demolition of the Nylon Capitol Shopping Center in Seaford has finally begun.
The project was originally spearheaded by the former Mayor Dave Genshaw. They plan to put the Community Bank of Delaware and other businesses in the revitalized shopping center. Seaford Mayor, Matt McCoy says they’re excited it’s finally happening and that many residents have been asking for it, for years.
“So this is the beginning of the excavation of the former Nylon Capital Shopping Center… Right behind us is the old bank here, and now, the community Bank of Delaware is going to come in, so we’re expediting that process… A lot of our residents have been asking for it for years, and I know some of the people behind Community Bank, they’ve been interested in coming back to Seaford for a while, so it’s a great marriage… We’re going to move down the line here to the Dollar Tree, the Dollar Tree is going to stay, but everything to the left of that is going to be excavated. And then we are going to move to the back portion of the parking lot with the major establishments.”
Mayor McCoy says the construction will continue over the upcoming weeks and says that the residents of Seaford truly deserve this. he’s glad he gets to join on this project and plans to see it all the way through.
