Man involved in Salisbury standoff facing assault charges

SALISBURY, Md. – WMDT has learned more about the man involved in a standoff for over nine hours on Tuesday in Salisbury.

40-year-old Matthew Gruber is facing multiple charges related to the incident, including first and second degree assault, false imprisonment, and dangerous weapon with the intent to deliver. However, it appears this is not Gruber’s first run-in with the law. Court records show that he has been convicted on assault charges before, and just last week, a warrant was issued for violation of probation on a past conviction.

Gruber is currently being held without bail and has a bond review hearing scheduled for Thursday morning on the new charges.
