Hebron man arrested in Dewey Beach on DUI, weapons charges
DEWEY BEACH, Del. – A Hebron man was arrested in Dewey Sunday evening
At around 6:45 p.m., Dewey Beach Police officers were alerted to a report of a driver who appeared to be unconscious at a red light in the area of southbound Coastal Highway and Collins Street. Officers arrived at the scene to find a black Nissan Altima with the driver, later identified as 29-year-old Nicholas Pusey, unconscious with his foot on the brake and the vehicle in drive. While trying to wake Pusey, officers reportedly observed signs of intoxication. When police told Pusey to open the door, he started taking his foot off the brake, causing the vehicle to begin moving, subsequently dragging an officer approximately 10 to 15 feet. Pusey initially resisted arrest, but was eventually taken into custody.
During a search of the vehicle, officers allegedly found a cooler of alcoholic beverages, THC vape pens, a large concealed fixed-blade knife, a rifle, and a handgun.
Pusey’s blood was drawn under a court-approved search warrant, and was he was charged with two counts of possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, first degree reckless endangerment, carrying a concealed deadly weapon, resisting arrest, and driving under the influence of liquor/drugs. He was held at SCI on a $41,850 cash bail.
No officers were injured.
