Good Morning Delmarva discusses upcoming social equity workshops in Delaware
WMDT -This month, the office of the Marijuana Commissioner has been holding social equity workshops and next Wednesday, the 26th, they will be hosting another workshop at the Dover Public Library.
We spoke with Rob Coupe, Delaware’s Marijuana Commissioner, who tells us the marijuana industry is unique as it’s still illegal federally, but a lot of small business owners rely on federal funding to maintain their business.
These workshops are meant to assist marijuana businesses, provide resources, and allow owners to network with others.
The workshops will give participants insight into what the social equity process looks like, how many licenses are available, legal topics, real estate, plus taxes and banking with this kind of business.
Coupe says this will be the first year Delaware will have a sales tax which can change things for those entering the Marijuana business.
He tells us they truly want to inform others and bring awareness to what their office is doing as they understand how hard it can be for first time business owner.
Again, the Dover workshop is next Wednesday, June 26th at the Dover Public Library from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m.
Coupe says they have a few spots left for interested participants.
