Good Morning Delmarva discusses The Germantown School’s annual summer fun kickoff!
47ABC – The Germantown School Community Heritage Center is one of only 11 Rosenwald schools left in Worcester County.
Rosenwald schools were historically African American schools that gave children in the community a valuable education and resources
This Saturday, June 15th, they will be hosting their annual summer fun kickoff!
We sat down with Karen Prengaman, the volunteer curator, tells us the free event was inspired by the school’s old tradition of celebrating the end of the year since 1920!
The event gives the community an opportunity to explore the past.
You’ll get to see some of the same gardens and canneries that provided funding for the school and its students.
One of the organizations that will be there include Assateague National Seashore, the police will be there with their furry friends, the fire company will be there to show off their trucks, there will be a petting zoo, train, and much more!
Most importantly, they will be doing tours of their museum, and you can meet students that actually attended the school.
Again – the event is this Saturday in berlin and starts at 11 AM until 3PM.
They will be providing food and drinks.
