Funding issues settled at Anne Street Pallet Village

SALISBURY, Md. – The ongoing funding issues surrounding the Anne Street Pallet Village have finally been put to rest, after the city of Salisbury and council members came to a resolution to keep allocated funding with the organization.
The nearly $70,000 in Grant funding won’t be leaving the pallet home village. But now, it’s time to figure out how they’ll be using all of it.
City council president, D’Shawn Doughty, said the city is on the hunt for a partner for the village, one that can come to the table with suggestions on how to enhance the area and how to maximize all of the dollars available.
“What we agreed on is let’s not reallocate funds, but let’s reserve funds, the $69,000, keep them in the account for Anne Street, and then when we decide further what that relationship looks like for the future partner, we’ll know then where can allocate those funds to,” Doughty said.
He added with the new plans, the city will be better equipped to serve the homeless population, ensuring they have all the resources at the Pallet Village that they need.
“Our homeless and our unhoused population are arguably one of the most vulnerable in the city, and often times they are neglected or cast over,” Doughty said. “I think this is a real instance where we could all say you all matter just as much as anyone else.”
