ECI inmate homicide investigation
PRINCESS ANNE, Md.- Maryland State Police is investigating a homicide of an inmate in Somerset County.
On June 1st, the Maryland State Police Homicide Unit was contacted by investigators from the Department of Public Safety and Correctional Services Internal Investigative Unit about an inmate’s death that happened around 3:30 pm on May 31.
The inmate was identified as 49-year-old Eugene Stanford.
Stanford was serving time at the Eastern Correctional Institution in Princess Anne.
A suspect, also an inmate, has been identified.
He has not been charged and is not being identified until charges are placed.
State Police Homicide Unit investigators are continuing the investigation
State Police crime scene technicians and investigators with the DPSCS Internal Investigative Unit are assisting.
