Delmarva Pride Center host events for Pride Month

MARYLAND – June is Pride month and there are festivals happening all across the Eastern shore. The Delmarva Pride Center is hosting a festival and parade this weekend.

The Delmarva Pride Center is a community service organization dedicated to creating a positive environment inclusive of all sexual orientations and gender identities. We support, educate, connect, organize, and provide outreach to the Delmarva LGBTQ+ community and its allies. On Saturday, Jun 15th, they will have a Street Festival in Downtown Easton and A Pride Dance at the Hummingbird Inn. Organizer Ivan Calon of the Pride Center said there will be over 80 vendors available and various food trucks.

Festival goers will have the opportunity to participate in a community art quilt and hear from local queer artists in the community. Ivan says the festival is just one of the ways they make people feel welcome. “We want to bring visibility and bring the community together. Show people that we are here, we are human, and we are part of the community…With all the hate and struggles that we face throughout the years, it’s a way to show support. Not only to the community, it’s welcome to everyone. Families, allies, just to show in a space, that you are safe here.”

Festivities actually begin Thursday, June 13, and end with Sunday Pride Brunch in Cambridge. The Delmarva Pride Center says you can visit their website for tickets and further information.
